Rolling out recognized some of the movers and shakers in hip-hop at the “I AM Hip Hop” issue celebration event. Shanti Das,author of  The Hip-Hop Professional, was part of the foundation that built LaFace Records and she worked closely with label founders Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio “LA” Reid. She was instrumental in developing innovative promotional campaigns for OutKast, Goodie Mob, Usher, TLC and Toni Braxton. Das started her own company, Press Reset Entertainment, which serves as an entertainment concierge service providing independent marketing and strategy for music acts, artist development, talent booking for private and corporate events, special event assistance and brand marketing.  Those are just s few of the reasons she received rolling out’s Hip-Hop Professional Award.

DJ Funky Darrel James,  Atlanta’s biggest hit record breaker, also received an award.  He’s a part of the Coalitions DJ, a crew of Atlanta DJs that run some of the ATL’s biggest strip clubs. DJ Funky knows when a record is a hit just by listening to it once.  He’s a lover of good music and hard working artists.  If you’ve got a hot record DJ Funky will break it.  That’s just a few of the reasons he received rolling out‘s DJ Award.  –eric black
