Adrienne Bailon on her new film, dating and personal growth

She also gives advice to women on how to stay true to themselves  when in a relationship.

“I think the most important thing a woman can do is have her own life,” she says. “Be independent and do your own thing. I think the one thing that always makes a man come running home is when you’re possibly not there.  I mean that in the most positive way. The fact that he knows you’re not going to be sitting in the same spot every time he comes home keeps your man on his toes. I think that’s incredibly important. A woman needs to have her own life, her own friends, her own things, her own social life and career. I think that men are intrigued by a woman that has her own thing going on.”

When it comes to relationships, love and infatuation can often be misconstrued. Bailon believes that a person’s values define who and what they love.

“I heard someone once say that what that person deems valuable to them is how you know if someone loves you,” she says. “If a person is incredibly busy and works a lot, time is what they think is valuable. If they give you all of their time, that may be a clue that he loves you. If he thinks family is important and he gives it to you, that could be a clue. People show love in different ways. It is based on what they think is valuable and if they give you everything that they think is valuable and important, they love you. ”

Bailon’s fans have showed love and supported her for over a decade. She is able to reach new audiences because of where she comes from and how she connects to the everyday woman.

“I’ve realized it takes so much courage to be real,” she emotes. “I want to be known as someone who never gave up. I kept knocking on doors until one would open. Being a girl that grew up in the projects on the Lower East Side, N.Y.,  I hope other girls see what I’ve accomplished without any connections to the industry.  I don’t have an uncle or a father that’s an agent or a famous celebrity father. I just came in with a talent, passion and a love for the arts. I never gave up. I hope that’s how they remember me.”
