Gerardo I. Hernandez, 39, has been identified as the TSA officer killed Friday during a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport, the Associated Press reports.
A gunman opened fire in LAX Friday morning, killing the agent and wounding several others at the airport.
Hernandez “is the first TSA officer killed in the line of duty in the 12-year history of the agency, which was founded in the aftermath of 9/11.”
The shooting suspect has been identified by the FBI as Paul Anthony Cyanic, 23. He is in custody after being shot in the chest by responding police officers.
