Oprah Winfrey decided it was time to get rid of her personal stash of antiques, furniture and junk that has been accumulated in her homes since 1985.  The items were a collection from all of Oprah’s homes including her fabulous Montecito, Calif. mansion as well as her homes in Hawaii, Illinois and Indiana. Simple items such as a $100 teapot went for $1,000 and a “TV Guide” cover photo of Oprah went for $3,000. “I’ve been accumulating things since 1985,” Winfrey told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s just too much stuff. In O Magazine we talk about decluttering and I realized, I need to declutter my own life. It is very freeing. I am downsizing.” The yard sale took place in Santa Barbara, Calif. and with proceeds going to her girls’ leadership academy in South Africa.
