Marrissa Sergeant believe that police abused her 14-year-old son during a routine arrest. According to reports by Philly.com, Joseph Williams, 14, was arrested for stealing at a Wal-Mart in Bucks County, Penn.

Police said that Williams escaped after being handcuffed and they Tasered him while he was running. They say the shock caused the teen to fall on his face.

However, Williams’ mother believes that police beat her son. Both of his eyes are swollen and there are multiple bruises on his face. She posted a picture of her disfigured son on Facebook and the photo has since been shared over 43,000 times.

Sergeant is demanding justice and says that police would not allow her to see her son when he was admitted to the hospital. Because he is a minor, a guardian should have been present during his treatment. But the teen signed off on his own medial treatment and was sent to a nearby juvenile detention center.

Tullytown Police Chief Dan Doyle says that a review of the incident will occur.
