Eminem and his ex-wife Kim have had one of music’s most famously dysfunctional relationships. They dated, broke up, married and divorced twice–all amidst violent altercations, prescription pill overdoses and suicide attempts. And Em had a tendency to write songs about murdering Kim with gleeful abandon. But Kim’s mother, Kathleen Sluck, is now claiming that the destructive relationship may be on the mend and the two are closer than they’ve ever been.
”We see him all the time,” Sluck told The Sun on Sunday. “I think they might get back together. They get on better than ever.” Em and Kim have a 17-year old daughter together, Hailie. She was famously referenced on Em’s morbidly comical “97′ Bonnie & Clyde,” a song where Em and his baby girl bond as he drives to a lake to dispose of Kim’s dead body. Hailie was also featured on “My Dad’s Gone Crazy” on Em’s 2002 album The Eminem Show.
Marie Hartter, the grandmother of Kim’s other daughter from another relationship has also said that she believes Kim and Eminem will get back together.
”They’ve been in love since they were 14 or 15 and that’s not going to stop any time soon,” Hartter said. “They will probably grow old together. As much as he says he hates her in his music, he loves her that much, too. They’re an explosive couple. It’s like throwing gas on a fire. I’ve always felt she was his one true love, and she has always felt the same way about him.”
Such sweet sentiments. But with all of the negativity and abuse tied to their tumultuous past, maybe this is one couple that should stay separated.
Eminem just released his eighth studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. He has also announced the “Rapture” tour with fellow hip-hop stars J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, which is slated for early 2014.
