It doesn’t take a genius to see from this season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” that Porsha Stewart is having a hard time letting go of her marriage and the pretense-filled dream life she had with Kordell Stewart. The now single housewife states that she’s keeping Stewart’s name despite the fact that he chose to divorce her. But in her co-star NeNe Leakes’ eyes, Stewart is holding on too much and she needs to let go of Kordell’s name to be free of him.
During a recent interview on “The Wendy Williams Show,” Porsha explained that she was keeping the name because she felt it represented the woman she’d become.
“I’m going to keep Stewart. It’s not his name. It’s my name. I was Porsha Williams and I was at one point in my life before I got married. Marriage has taught me so much. I’m a whole ‘nother woman now,” she told Wendy Williams earlier in November. “So, I’m going to own that last name. It belongs to me.”
But in Leakes’ most recent Bravo TV blog, she addressed Porsha’s divorce drama and advised the younger housewife to drop Kordell’s name and reclaim her own name and life.
“If you are so done with Kordell, be done with his last name as well. You guys don’t have children together, so why hold on to something that was negative for you?” Leakes asked in the post.
Well, considering Porsha’s strong beliefs about marriage and relationships, we doubt she’ll listen to Leakes. But she’s certainly not the only celeb to keep their spouses name after a divorce. Check out some other stars who did the same after the cut. – nicholas robinson
