Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has been ordered to turn in his weapons. The troubled hip-hop star, who’s had several run-ins with law enforcement and made headlines earlier this year with his erratic behavior and strange rants on Twitter, has been informed that he has to give up his two guns. And it’s the federal government making the demand.
Gucci has two registered weapons, a 40 caliber Glock and a 45 caliber Taurus. TMZ reports that Gucci is being required to surrender both guns and all ammunition that he currently has for them.
Gucci Mane has been previously convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. Those convictions are grounds for his guns being removed.
Throughout the year, Gucci has been involved in numerous bad episodes. Despite beginning the year on a relatively high note–he made his screen debut in the feature film Spring Breakers back in March, the rapper has seen his popularity swiftly decline amidst feuds with his former protege Waka Flocka Flame, Debra Antney (Waka’s mother and Gucci’s former manager) and high-profile beefs with other artists from Gucci’s 1017 Brick Squad roster. He was arrested in September after an altercation with the police, and prior to that, there were numerous outlandish tweets posted on Gucci’s Twitter account. Gucci claimed in his tweets to have had sexual relationships with numerous female celebrities and made slanderous claims regarding several industry figures.
His erratic behavior was later blamed on his addiction to codeine.
Gucci also filed a federal lawsuit accusing several people, including Waka Flocka and his mom, of fraud, racketeering, theft and breach of contract as it pertains to Davis’s company, 1017 Records, LLC.
