Calvin Johnson: the NFL’s greatest receiver transforms the game

Name: Calvin “Megatron” Johnson

The Business: The National Football League

Position: Wide Receiver

Megatron is every bit as explosive as the Decepticon villain he’s nicknamed for, and currently he’s the highest paid receiver in the league.

And for good reason.

The former Georgia Tech standout is the most electrifying receiver in the NFL today, and the wide receiver has been writing his name all over the record books since he hit the league in 2007.

In 2011, he became the first NFL player in history to have consecutive seasons with at least 1,600 yards receiving. In 2012, he claimed the NFL’s record for most receiving yards in a season and he holds the Detroit Lions’ franchise record for most receiving touchdowns and most career touchdowns. He’s tied with retired legend Cris Carter for most consecutive games with at least two receiving touchdowns. In week nine of the 2013 season, Megatron captured the Lions’ record for most receiving yards in a single game: 329, against the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 27, 2013.

He was quoted as saying: “I started hearing [people call me the best receiver] last year and I still felt like I had to get some time under my belt. I had things to do for myself. I still have things to prove. It’s good to have that on your shoulders, the feeling that ‘I’m not there yet.’ “
