Adrien Broner often draws comparison to Floyd Mayweather. But unlike Mayweather, Broner no longer holds an unblemished record inside the boxing ring.
Broner shocked the boxing world on Dec. 14 by losing to underdog Marcos Maidana in a welterweight title match. During the match at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Broner was knocked down for the first time in his career. Maidana managed to knock Broner down twice and landed several power punches that hurt Broner.
Broner was able to regain his aggression in the later rounds, but the damage done in the beginning of the fight led the judges to side with Maidana.
Before the fight, some boxing fans suggested that Broner fight his mentor Mayweather to create a big Pay-Per-View match; however, it’s obvious that Broner is years away from reaching Mayweather’s elite boxing prowess in the ring.
