Jennifer Ferriola (Love Jen Makeup) was born in New York City and moved to Atlanta in her early teenage years, where she discovered her love for the beauty industry. After attending Atlanta Technical College for Cosmetology, she knew that makeup artistry would be her passion.  Now after being in the business for over 11 years, Jen has worked with the best talents and celebrities in the industry like Lil Wayne, T.I., Rick Ross, Sean Garrett, Tank and many more.  Jen has collaborated with the hottest photographers in the game: DeWayne Rodgers, Jaxon Photo Group, Anthony Eyecandy Modeling, Shawn Darnell and Paul Lawson just to name a few.  Jen’s work has been featured in numerous publication and online magazines. She was nominated and won the 2011 and 2012 Urban Model Award Makeup Artist of the Year award. Jen offers advice to up and coming make up artists in our recent interview. What advice would you give to those wanting to go into your field?

First, get licensed (cosmetology or esthetician). Next, create a social networking page and begin reaching out to models, photographers, wardrobe stylists and hairstylists to offer your services for free (TFP) to start building your portfolio. Another good way to get started in this industry is assisting another makeup artist to get some hands on learning experience.

Do you have anything else going on?

Yes. I do have my own lash line that I just started this fall called “Love Jen Lashes.” They can be purchased at lovejenlashes.com.

What’s most gratifying about what you do?

The most gratifying part of what I do is definitely making people look and feel good for their special day/events in their life like weddings, baby showers, birthdays, grand openings, magazine covers and TV appearances. To experience these moments with my clients is priceless.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

The one thing I would change about myself is that I didn’t worry so much. I lose sleep because I worry all the time.

How do you balance personal time, work and family?

My family and God come first; they are my rock and foundation and my main priority. I don’t get much personal time because I have dedicated myself to building my brand and grinding to be at the top.

How can people find you?
