The fabulous mother-daughter fitness duo, Ellen Ector and Lana Ector are back for round two to knock out obesity and help even more women ‘snatch it back.’
Just in time for the New Year and those resolutions, the Gymnetics Fitness owners have released another home video, Black Girls Workout 2! Snatch It Back.
With over 150K followers combined, the Ectors are mission-driven women with their new fitness project and encourage all their ‘Gems’ to know that “curves are good..in the right places!”
How does the duo explain the aggressive but inspiring tagline, Black Girls Workout, TOO!? “There are so many generalizations about black women and fitness. People believe that we don’t workout or that if we do workout, we only workout our lower body because we don’t want to mess up our hair”, Lana jokingly says. “We do workout. We do jog. We swim. We lift weights. We ARE focused on our health just as much as any other race.” Not so, say the latest statistics which state that four out of five black women are considered overweight or obese. “We plan to change that. That’s why we have started this initiative. We want black women to know and understand that working out is probably not something you will love, but it is something that we MUST do. It’s like drinking water. We need it,” says Ellen.
Ellen and Lana Ector’s Black Girls Workout, TOO! was released in 2012 and quickly shot to #1 on Amazon outselling the likes of fitness guru Jillian Michaels and DVDs from NBC’s The Biggest Loser.
