Talk about ending a year right! Long Islander Marvin Rosales-Martinez puts his green thumb to work, cashing in on a lost $1 million lotto ticket. According to the NY Daily News, Martinez “found a $1 million Win for Life lottery ticket in a pile of leaves and lawn clippings — I saw a ticket rolling with a bunch of leaves, recounted Rosales-Martinez, 27. It was all wet, and I took it home and I dried it,” he recounted. “When I found out I had won, I felt very lucky. I felt very happy.”

To ensure the Win for Life lottery ticket was indeed legit, lottery officials conducted a yearlong investigation as well as provided ample time for someone to come forward, should the original purchaser surface to claim it.

Martinez, who has been looking to expand his landscape business, declined monthly payments and opted for the cash option. He walked away clean with $515,612 after taxes. Must be nice! – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
