Macklemore has been taking a lot of heat over the past week, thanks to his sweep of every major rap category at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, as well his epic Grammy performance, in which several gay couples were married on air. With all eyes on Macklemore, it was only a matter of time before people began to dig in his past for dirt. Now one hip-hop blogger claims that Macklemore’s past includes a stint as a gay male escort.
According to Diary of a Hollywood Street King, before Macklemore hit it big as a rapper, he was just another aspiring artist struggling to pay his bills. However, an unknown source for the blogger claims that Macklemore “definitely isn’t 100% straight” and that he was able to fund his studio time by working as an escort for gay men.
“He used to be a male escort in Seattle during his pre fame days, mainly to pay his bills,” said the source.
The blogger points to recent controversy over 5-year0old tweets from Macklemore’s Twitter page in which he seems to post homophobic tweets “Drag Queens vs. Dy–s.” However, a short investigation later proved that Macklemore was talking about the actual names of two baseball teams who were playing each other at the time.
With such unsubstantiated claims and no other reports from other bloggers or publications about an alleged past as an escort for Macklemore, we’re going to say that this is just a rumor.
