Cynthia Bailey’s sister, Malorie, has never been seen as the ‘good sister’ on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” In fact, thanks to her constant feuding with Bailey’s husband, Peter Thomas, Malorie has been labeled everything from backstabber to meddler to freeloader and everything in between. But according to the so-called wicked sister herself, everything isn’t as it seems and she claims that Bravo edits her scenes to make her look like a villain.
In a new interview with RadarOnline, Malorie recalls the infamous season two incident in which cameras showed her and Bailey’s mother, Barbara, plotting to hide Bailey and Thomas’ marriage license from them so they couldn’t get married. However, Malorie claims that she never hid the license from them.
“I want to clear something up. I NEVER hid the marriage license,” Malorie said.
Although the license did indeed go missing, Malorie explains that neither her nor Barbara were the culprits.
“My mother and I didn’t wake up that morning and decide to hide it. That’s not the case at all. I knew who had it but I didn’t come forward with the information right away,” she said, claiming one of Cynthia’s close friends had the license.
“I’ve apologized a hundred times for not saying anything, but I never hid it — despite what Bravo showed,” she added.
Malorie explains that the license was left behind at her sister’s home because there was uncertainty about whether they needed it at the ceremony or not. Bravo cameras followed Bailey’s assistant retrieving the license and handing it to a bridesmaid, but Malorie claims that Bravo edited the scene to make it look like she and Barbara were plotting against Bailey.
“It makes me look like the over-protective sister. Don’t get me wrong, I love my sister and will protect her, but I’m not all up in her business like that. There were a lot of things Cynthia confided to me before the wedding that no one saw,” she explained.
Malorie revealed that her sister confided in her about the financial troubles that she and Thomas were in and that she wasn’t sure if she was doing the right thing by getting married.
“I did say that I thought maybe the lost certificate was perhaps a sign that maybe they should wait to get married,” Malorie confessed about her sister’s nuptials.
“Honestly, I still wasn’t sure even as she walked down the aisle that this is what she wanted to do. I know they love each other, but there were issues that needed to be worked out. Even Cynthia will admit to that, but Bravo made me look heartless – and all I want is the best for both of them.”
