In a previously reported story on rolling out, we informed our readers of a house possessed by demons. Unlike many demonic house stories, the family involved was black. For years black people in haunted houses have been a source of jokes. Most of the jokes infer that blacks would leave, while a white family would try to figure out why things were happening in the house.
Sounds like something out of a Hollywood film, and it will soon be a film.
The priest who performed the exorcism, Father Michael Maginot, is getting a deal for a movie to be titled, The Exorcisms of Latoya Ammons. The movie will be produced by Evergreen Media Holdings, producer of the horror film The Conjuring, which grossed $318 million worldwide. Father Maginot would not discuss the terms of his deal, but it was called an industry standard deal by Evergreen’s executive chairman, Tony DeRosa-Grund.
The Ammons family has not been so fortunate.
Latoya Ammons so far has not been offered any deal other than one TV interview. She has stated that her phone has been bombarded with calls and people have come to her door claiming to be her relatives. In addition, when she sought counseling for her family she was deemed delusional and fixated on demons. Ammons was told that her behavior was the cause of the demonic possessions and events that occurred at her home and this was what affected her family.
In the meantime, Father Maginot has appeared on various TV programs, including “Inside Edition” and even “The O’Reilly Factor.”
The house involved was sold for $35,000 to Zak Bagans, executive producer of “Ghost Adventures” on the Travel Channel. Maginot also signed a deal with Bagans to make a documentary about the incident.
It seems that when demons become involved, race matters in film deals.
