Police accuse Joshua Cooper, 18, of child cruelty and aggravated mayhem, for tearing off the infant’s nose and causing other grave head injuries in their home in Fairfield, Calif., which is about halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif. Cooper is being held in in the Solano County Jail on these felony charges.
Police reported they received a call Thursday by a distraught woman who said her baby was bleeding from his nose, reports the Sacramento Bee.
In addition to the fact that one-third of the child’s nose had been severed, doctors later determined the child suffered a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage.
The child is in stable condition at Oakland Children’s Hospital.
Police say they are still trying to determine how the skull fracture and brain hemorrhage occurred.
However it happened, may God have mercy on this man’s soul if he is indeed guilty. And may God heal that infant child.
