NeNe Leakes has been in the hot seat a lot this season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” thanks to her beefs with her former friends Kenya Moore and Marlo Hampton. And although Leakes no doubt is responsible for some of her reality TV messiness, she recently claimed that the producers of “RHOA” have it out for her this season.
In a recent interview with Essence, Leakes was asked about her thoughts on this season of “RHOA” and she explained that, although she’s not too mad about it, she’s noticed that producers for the show are making her out to be one of the bad guys this season.
“I feel like these networks and production companies—I’m just keeping it real—I just feel like they build you up to tear you down. I feel like they’ve done whatever they could do to try to not show me in the best light,” Leakes said.
Leakes says she understands that nearly every reality TV villain known to man has blamed editing for their bad image, but she says that it really is just a part of the game when you sign on for reality TV.
“There are so many things that happen on the show and they… I don’t even want to talk about editing, because I feel like so many people cry wolf on editing. I’m just saying that they’ve done whatever they could to try and diminish anything that I’ve done and I’m okay with it because I know about reality TV,” Leakes said.
“Every season there has to be a villain, there has to be somebody that straddles the fence, and there has to be a little s–t stirrer. All of those things make the show. They decide who’s going to be the villain this season or who’s going to be this person or that person. We don’t have any control over that,” she added.
Leakes didn’t stop at just talking about producers though. She also discussed her high-profile beef with Hampton and explained that there’s more than meets the eye. Read what she had to say after the cut. – nicholas robinson
