A 33-year-old man was arrested for attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl and her 8-year-old friend. According to a report by Recordnet.com, Gerald Herbet Childs jumped the fence at an apartment complex in Stockton, Calif., where the 11-year-old girl was having a birthday party outside.
The 11-year-old girl was able to get away from Childs. But after she slipped away, Childs attempted to grabbed the girl’s 8-year-old friend. The father of the 8-year-old girl saw Childs grab his daughter and approached him. A fight eventually occurred between Childs and the girl’s father after Childs entered the man’s home.
Childs left the apartment, but several parents followed him as he made his way to a restaurant near the complex. Once inside, Childs was surrounded by the parents and cornered. The parents called the police and held Childs until they arrived.
Childs was eventually arrested and charged with suspicion of multiple counts of kidnapping and annoying or molesting a child.
