What are the three things you’re most excited about?
For starters, I’m excited to be moving into the realm of producing, because I really love doing work behind the camera. The second thing is that I’m excited to be back to work for TV Land, and this amazing show where I play Cedric the Entertainer’s wife called the “The Soul Man.” Lastly, as soon as I wrap “The Soul Man,” I have a three-week break, and then I continue shooting my HBO project called “Getting On.” Those shows are so different, and both are so much fun.
What is one thing that you could share with our readers that has stuck with you, and has always served as a source of inspiration?
I guess for me that thing would be that you have to know the source of your strength, because at some point in your life you’re going to need to be renewed. For me, that renewal comes from my relationship with the Most High. No matter what my situation, I know that if I can look up, I can get up — and if I can get up, I can move forward. We all have low moments in our lives that are filled with depression and despair, but you don’t have to say there. That’s something that I refuse to do. Every day, I just press forward toward the mark of being better — whatever better is for me.
