‘Game of Thrones’ returns, season 4 premiere airs tonight: Got HBO?

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” premieres Sunday, April 6, 2014, and it is going to be a mind blower. This writer has to admit, I am late to the action in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. I have been remiss in not jumping on the bandwagon sooner. Thanks to a special screening during the Atlanta Film Festival, I was able to screen a sneak preview before its millions of fans and get a copy of the Catch the Throne mixtape featuring Big Boi, Common, Wale, Daddy Yankee and more.

My lord [and lady, pun intended]! I must admit, there was a lot more sex, blood and brutality than I’d expected, but it wasn’t so grotesque that I am not curious to witness the Red Wedding, learn more about why the Lannisters are so powerful and why King Joffrey is so reviled. The sibling love affair between one-handed Jaime and his sister Cersei, gasp.

Me at the Atlanta Film Festival afterparty for “Game of Thrones” season 4 premiere at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Let the games begin.

Don’t want to spoil it for those of you who have yet to see the premiere but I have to admit my favorite character so far is obviously platinum-haired Daenerys “Queen Khaleesi” Targaryen. Blondes rule.
