Todd confronts Mama Joyce
Kandi takes her mom to a family counselor to help Joyce deal with her issues with Todd and Kandi’s relationship. Joyce explains to the counselor that she hates the fact that Todd quit his full-time job after getting with Kandi, but she also reveals that she isn’t around to see how Todd treats Kandi, nor has she ever taken the time to get to know Todd. At the rehearsal for Kandi’s play, Todd has a moment alone with Joyce and asks her what went wrong and how they can finally make peace. Joyce tells Todd that she never stopped liking him, but she did lose respect for him when he quit his job. Todd explains that he had a large nest egg for rainy days and that his job isn’t a normal one, explaining that he still pulls in money doing freelance work. He also explains that his former job would’ve required him to be gone for months at a time, which Kandi would’ve never accepted. Things are still shaky between the two but Mama Joyce is trying to like Todd again.
