2014 is shaping up to be a major year for Prince.
His Royal Badness appeared on the hit ABC sitcom “The New Girl” back in February. Then he closed out march by announcing that NPG Publishing would be handling his vast catalog of classic material. This weekend, it was announced that Prince had finally ended his long-standing beef with his old label, Warner Bros, had re-signed with them and now has full ownership of his master recordings from the 1980s and early 1990s.
Yes, Prince Rogers Nelson is having a helluva year.
With the announcement of the new deal with Warner Bros. and the promise of reissues and new releases forthcoming, Prince also debuted a new song. “The Breakdown” was released to iTunes this week and it’s classic Prince: a dramatic, shifting ballad that sounds like a lost track from the Around the World In A Day or Parade sessions.
