DJ Rashad, footwork pioneer, dies
DJ Rashad, a Chicago DJ noted for his pioneering of the footwork music movement, has died. Rashad Harden was found dead this weekend of an apparent drug overdose. He was 34-years-old.
Authorities report that Harden’s body was found Saturday afternoon in an apartment on the city’s Westside with narcotics and drug paraphernalia by his body. An exact cause of death will be determined after the results of toxicology tests.
He was a longtime member of the city’s Ghettoteknitianz and a co-founder of the Teklife crew. His death comes just weeks after the death of House music star Frankie Knuckles.
DJ Rashad’s EP “We On 1 EP” was scheduled for release today, April 28, 2014.
