An 8-year-old boy attempted to protect his sister from a rapist and was killed. According to reports by NBC 12, the boy and his 12-year-old sister were playing near a railroad track located behind their home in Richmond.
The kids were approached by a teenager who began sexually assaulting the 12-year-old girl. The 8-year-old boy attempted to protect his sister and tried to fight the teen to the best of his ability. The teenage suspect beat the boy to death and raped the 12-year-old girl. The young boy died at the scene.
The girl was rushed to the hospital and later questioned by police. Traumatized by the events, the she initially told police she was raped by a white man. She eventually told the police the suspect was a black teenager who threatened her if she told the truth.
The incident can have a lasting affect on the girl and her family. It’s important that she receives counseling to help her adjust to such a tragic situation.
A teenage suspect is being evaluated at a medical center, but police have yet to file murder and sexual charges.
