With a healthy buzz in place regarding his role as boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming film Hands Of Stone, Usher is already planning his next power move in Hollywood.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Grammy award winning singer has signed on as executive producer for a new documentary about America’s dropout epidemic called Undroppable.
Scooter Braun, manager of Usher protégé Justin Bieber, is responsible for bringing the project to the attention of the “U Don’t Have To Call” singer. “I knew Usher was very passionate about the issue of education, so I felt this was a great project to bring him into,” Braun said. “His expertise will be invaluable as we continue this film and movement.”
A social media campaign featuring uploaded videos of the film’s producers relaying their personal struggles will be used to launch the film and create awareness.
Written and directed by Jason Pollock, Undroppable, will be released in the latter half of 2014.
