For weeks now, the only celebrity wedding that people have been talking about is Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s recent nuptials in Italy. But another music icon, Melissa Etheridge married her longtime girlfriend this past weekend.
According to People, Etheridge and girlfriend Linda Wallem married Saturday night at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, at the foot of the Santa Ynez Mountain range, just two days after they both turned 53.
“They were so happy,” said a guest. “It was really beautiful.”
Sources say that Etheridge was decked out in a grey suit while Wallem was in a white dress, and the ceremony included all four of Etheridge’s kids.
Making the ceremony even more spectacular was the fact that Etheridge surprised Wallem with a new song that she wrote in secret especially for her.
“It was such a magical moment,” the guest said.
“The ceremony was such a beautiful start to the night,” said the guest. “The setting was perfect. It was something Melissa and Linda wanted early on. It was as perfect as they envisioned.”
And watching Etheridge and Wallem tie the knot were a host of celebrities, including Jane Lynch, Chelsea Handler, Rosie O’Donnell, Whitney Cummings, Peter Facinelli and recording artist Sia.
Etheridge and Wallem, who created the show “Nurse Jackie,” were friends for more than a decade before they began dating each other in 2010. Last year, the two revealed that they were engaged and Etheridge explained that she was excited to express her “American civil liberties” by marrying Wallem, whom she called her “one true love.”
The day after their wedding, the two immediately departed for their honeymoon in a secret tropical location.
