Anyone who’s been in a relationship knows that it takes work, and anyone who’s been married knows that happily ever after takes a whole different level of work. When it comes to Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s marriage, the latter certainly seems to be their reality now. Although the couple recently tied the knot after a humongous amount of trials and tribulations, Burruss revealed that she and Tucker are still working on their happily ever after, especially now that they’re marriage is long distance.
In a recent interview with Ebony, Burruss spoke about her newlywed days with Tucker and explained that they have to adjust to marriage on different coasts.
“I guess we still don’t feel married yet. We went from seeing each other and being together every day to a long-distance relationship— because he’s in L.A. producing his show, ‘Hollywood Divas,’ for TV One, so we see each other on the weekends. Sometimes we don’t even get to do that,” Burruss explained.
And although life as a temporary long-distance couple hasn’t been the easiest on their marriage, Burruss shares that she and Tucker are working hard to keep their marriage a priority.
“We make it work through a lot of communication, and we try to see each other as often as possible. There was a time when we both got really busy and went awhile without seeing each other. I actually was getting really upset, almost crying. I called him one day and, as I was fussing, he came through the door and surprised me. To me, you have to do things like that and make your relationship a priority. Our new rule is to not let two weeks go by without spending time together. That’s the limit,” said Burruss.
Well, we’re glad that Burruss and Tucker and trying their hardest to keep their marriage functional and running and we hope they finally get to really enjoy life as newlyweds when Tucker comes back to Atlanta. –nicholas robinson
