The City of Riverdale Cultural Affairs plans two great South City Music Festivals this year. The first show is June 21 with the line-up of great acts performing their famous songs. The Dramatics featuring original member LJ Reynolds (“In the Rain,” and “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get”) and The Original Lakeside (“Fantastic Voyage) will be there. Other acts include Zapp (“More Bounce to the Ounce” and “Computer Love,”) Soul IV Real (“Candy Rain” and “Every Little Thing I Do”) and last but not least the Mary Jane Girls (“In My House.”)
The second South City Summer Music Fest will be July 19, with artist A’ngela Winbush (“ Angel” and “I’ve Learned to Respect (The Power of Love)” along with Blue Magic featuring Ted Mills, (“Spell” and “What’s Come Over Me”) and Klymaxx featuring Joyce Irby,(“Meeting in the Ladies Room” and “The Men All Pause.”) Comedian Melanie Comarcho will also be in the house. This show also features Club Nouveau, singing about those “Rumors” and “Lean On Me,” Syleena Johnson, “I am Your Woman,” and Avery Sunshine, “Ugly Part of Me.”
Tickets are still available and you can buy combo tickets for the June and July shows saving you $10 – $14. New this year is the LED 8-by- 12K screen which can be viewed during daylight hours. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the show starts at 5 p.m. The Amphitheater at Riverdale Town Center is located at 7200 Church St. No outside food or drinks allowed.
