Woman lied about KFC forcing her granddaughter to leave because of her disfigured face

Victoria-Wilcher

A woman from Jackson, Mississippi, lied about a claim that KFC discriminated against her granddaughter. According to the Laurel Leader-Call, Kelly Mullins made up the story for financial gain.

Mullins’ 3-year-old granddaughter, Victoria, was mulled by three of her grandfather’s pit bulls in April. Donald Mullins was charged with child endangerment.

The family set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Victoria’s mounting medical expenses. However, they could only raise $600.

Kelly Mullins decided to lie in order to raise more money. She said a KFC in Jackson told Victoria to leave because of her disfigured face. The story made national headlines and $135,000 was raised for Victoria’s GoFundMe campaign. KFC also donated $30,000 to the girl for her medical expenses.

After the false accusation, KFC employees were harassed and received death threats. But police investigated the incident and discovered that Mullins lied about the entire ordeal. They reviewed surveillance video and never saw Mullins and her granddaughter at the restaurant.

Kelly Mullins could face criminal charges for filing a false report.
