For months now, reports have claimed that NeNe Leakes has been in negotiations with Bravo over a salary raise for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and that she even claimed the rest of the cast needs a raise as well. Although it was previously reported that all of the cast mates are coming back to the show, a new rumor claims that Leakes’ salary has been cut in half.
According to RumorFix, a source claims that producers cut Leakes’ whopping million-dollar salary in half because ratings showed that her storyline with her husband, Gregg Leakes, brought in the lowest reviews and ratings for the past season.
The salary decrease would drop Leakes down to just a supporting cast member and reduce her role below that of Kandi Burruss, who is reportedly raking in $800,000 per season and just nabbed the highest ratings for a “RHOA” spin-off with “Kandi’s Wedding.”
“NeNe balked at the idea of going part-time and said she would quit first. If she wants the same pay, Bravo will require that she shoot more with the other ladies,” said the source.
However, RumorFix claims to have spoken with sources close to the matter and they say that the rumors are false and that Leakes is coming back to the show with her full salary.
Well, that certainly makes more sense than the rumor. Although Leakes has certainly proven that she’s more interesting when she’s arguing with people instead of just spending time with Gregg, she’s still the biggest draw the show has. – nicholas robinson
