Many of us know Columbus Short’s personal life and professional career have become tabloid fodder. He has been arrested for domestic abuse, was in an altercation at a bar, and then sued. On V-103 radio station in Atlanta, he informed the world that the person this altercation was with was a member of his extended family, in short (pun intended) his son’s uncle. And to top it all off, Short lost his job on “Scandal”; no wonder he was recently arrested for public intoxication in Dallas on July 5.
This talented man’s résumé includes work as a choreographer, actor and singer. Recently, accompanied by music executive Russell “Block” Spencer (Block Entertainment), he debuted his new song on V-103, titled “Gave Ya.” The beat and the hook are nice, but there is work to be done on the lyrics. I’m sure he will continue to perfect his craft and improve.
Short also choreographed Britney Spears’s Onyx Hotel Tour and worked with Brian Friedman on the project “So You Think You Can Dance” Fame addition. But he is best known from his great performances in Stomp the Yard, Cadillac Records, Armored, and The Losers.
We all go through ups and downs and times when the sun is not shining on our lives. Hopefully, Short will be able to rebound from his troubles. We hope to see him on the silver screen or being scandalous in a new television role soon. And never again coming up short! Pun intended, again!
