With an undefeated 46-0 record and three more fights on his deal with CBS/Showtime, including his Sept. 13, 2014, bout with Marcos Maidana, the career of Floyd Mayweather, 37, is coming to a close. At the press conference to announce the fight with Maidana, this writer had the chance to ask Money Mayweather about his aspirations after boxing.

“[There are] so many different things on the table, but you know I have my team. I believe in building my team that’s around me and making them stronger and [teaching them] about being entrepreneurs,” said Floyd, who went on to talk about different members of his team.

“The mother of my oldest daughter — she has a store up and running. She’s going to get [other stores] up and running in different places,” said Mayweather, referring to Melissia Brim, the mother of his oldest daughter, Iyanna, who owns a boutique called Devanna Love.

Mayweather continued to talk about The Money Team, better known as TMT. “We got Ricki Brazil. He’s a close friend of mine, he has the women’s clothing line.” Brazil is a lifelong friend from his hometown in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who after a brief stint in jail, moved to Las Vegas to join Mayweather in business ventures. The clothing line is called Ricki Brazil, and the face of the line is none other than Shaniece Hairston, daughter of Evelyn Lozada of “Basketball Wives” fame.

“We have Bad Medina, she has the makeup line coming out,”  said Mayweather, referring to Doralie Medina, who is best known as Floyd’s personal massage therapist.

Finally, Mayweather mentioned the head of his company. “Of course Leonard [Ellerbe], he has Mayweather Promotions, so [I’m] just making my team stronger.” He closed with a simple statement: “We’re steady building everyone around us, helping them build their own empire. That’s what it’s about.”

Indeed, that is certainly what it’s all about. I am going to start a campaign to become his official biographer, because there are certainly great benefits to being a member of TMT! –derrel johnson
