Police Officer Marcel Jackson struggles with driver

Last month, Miami police officer Marcel Jackson observed a car speeding and made a traffic stop. When Jackson confronted the driver and asked for ID, the driver did not comply in handing over the requested documents to Jackson. Instead, the driver quickly flashed some form of ID badge that was strapped to his waist and said “How about that!” Jackson once again repeated his request and the driver became abusive and opened the door without warning striking the officer. Jackson then initiated a takedown on the driver and proceeded to struggle with him until other officers arrived to assist.

It turns out that the driver was Lt. David Ramras, a member of the Internal Affairs Division of the Miami Police and now Jackson has been relieved of his duty pending further investigation of the traffic stop. Ramras however was not charged over his behavior.

In a letter that was sent to the Police Chief and the head of Internal Affairs, Jackson’s attorney, Scott Srebnick, asked that the investigation be moved out of the hands of the Miami Police Department because of issues regarding racial bias.

The video of the traffic stop can be seen below:
