Update: Remy Ma prison release delayed, rapper not home after all

VH1 Hip Hop Honors - Arrivals

On July 31, it was erroneously reported that rapper Remy Ma had been released from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York. But Remy’s expected July 31t release was delayed, reportedly due to her violation of protocol. Remy’s family, including her husband Papoose, was on hand to take her home when they learned that she would not be released due to behavioral infractions.

Remy’s release has been delayed due to a July 21 incident in which she violated the prison’s ban on third-party calling. While the prison did not specify exactly how Remy violated the rule, July 21 is the date that she gave in an interview to radio host Angie Martinez discussing her release. Prison rules state that each inmate have 10 preapproved phone numbers that they are allowed to call during allotted phone times. Calling one of those numbers and then having another party forward the call to another number is considered a violation.

There have also been reports that Remy’s release was delayed due to an altercation last week in prison, but thus far, those claims have not been confirmed.

Remy, born Reminisce Smith, has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement for the last week as she awaits a report on her prison violation incident. She cannot be released from prison until that report is filed. It is now unclear exactly when she will be coming home, though her release is not expected to be delayed for much longer.
