Over the weekend, Hennessy V.S celebrated the launch of the Hennessy V.S Limited Edition Shepard Fairey Bottle at the Art Alliance: The Provocateurs gallery where contemporary art pieces curated by Shepard Fairey were on display at Block Thirty Seven in downtown Chicago.
The event turned out to be a “who’s who” in the artsy crowd of Chicago – from musical artists to visual artists, Chicagoans were wall-to-wall in a huge space filled with many street-art inspired pieces. Guests enjoyed small bites, specialty Hennessy cocktails, including the Shepard Fairey inspired “The Revolution” and tunes by DJ Sean Mac, DJ M.O.S and Shepard Fairey himself.
Hennessy brand ambassador for the award winning “never stop, never settle” campaign, centered around the notion of pushing the limits of one’s potential to reach new and greater levels of achievement, Nas, gave a special surprise 30-minute performance to the packed crowd.
It was a bit tricky though — Nas didn’t come on stage until around 1:30 a.m. — prior to his performance, I was starting to think he wasn’t going to show! But he did, performing dozens of hits from his vast career and a fifth of Hennessy in hand as he spit on the mic. Of course.
To be 40, the emcee born Nasir Jones, is incredibly youthful on stage and still has an incredible amount of energy. His delivery and flow were so smooth — nearly effortless.
If you’re in Chicago, you can catch Nas at the official Lollapalooza after show tonight at the House of Blues.
