Rihanna made her way to Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, to attend the Summer Classic Charity Basketball Game. Why was Riri there? Chris Brown was one of the participants on Team Sabathia, and played well in the game, but we men often try our best when a current or past lover is in attendance.
Roc Nation Sports stars CC Sabathia of the New York Yankees and Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners competed against each other, with NBA stars Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks and reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder participating as honorary team captains for Team Sabathia and Team Cano, respectively.
Many other stars were in attendance, as Fabolous, Terrell Owens, DJ Khaled, DJ Clue, Ne-Yo, and Tiki Barber were among the competitors on the court, as Power 105.1 radio personality Angie Martinez served as MC. There were even more celebrities in the crowd, as baseball icon Derek Jeter, NBA players JR Smith, Rudy Gay, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Kenneth Faried, WNBA star Skylar Diggins, recording artists Young Jeezy, Future, model Damaris Lewis, Angela Simmons, and many more were in attendance.
The proceeds from the night went to Robinson Cano’s RC22 Foundation and CC Sabathia’s PitCCh In Foundation. There was an auction at halftime with some of the prizes including all expense-paid trips to the 2015 Grammy Awards, and the final leg of the On The Run Tour featuring Beyoncé and Jay Z in Paris, France.
But it was Rihanna who received the biggest ovation of the night by far when she took her seat in the first half. The game was quite entertaining as well, with Chris Brown having a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but he missed a three pointer, and Team Cano defeated Team Sabathia 73-71. Wonder how Brown would have celebrated if he hit the shot? Rihanna was a mere few feet away, and I’m sure she would have celebrated as well. Check out a few photos in the gallery below.
