Jackie Robinson West youth baseball team has made history. The Chicago-based squad became the first all-black team to reach the Little League World Series final.

The team defeated Las Vegas 7-5 to capture the United States championship. Jackie Robinson West rallied in the fifth inning to defeat a team that beat them by a score of 13-2 earlier in the week.

Citizens in Chicago held viewing parties to support the team. Since their historic run in the Little League World Series began, Jackie Robinson has become the hope of Chicago.

They are a positive story in a city that has dealt with violence and negative media coverage during the summer.

Jackie Robinson West will face off against South Korea in the championship game that will decide the top youth baseball team in the world.

Once the team returns to Chicago, they will be celebrated with a parade at Grant Park that will be attended by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
