Michael Brown was finally laid to rest today in Ferguson, Missouri. The Rev. Al Sharpton brought a shining light on the life of Michael Brown and subsequently to the problems that plague the black community. Here are the top 10 points in Rev. Al Sharpton’s eulogy of Michael Brown:
1) Before you walk the streets of heaven, you’ve got to deal with the streets in Ferguson.
2) Some of you are so heavenly bound, you’re no earthly good.
3) America has to come to terms with the fact that we have money to give military equipment to police, but we have no money for children.
4) We support the family and we are called dividers but they support Darren Wilson and they are called supporters.
5) We are not the haters. We are the healers.
6) We can’t have a fit or a ghetto pity party at this time. We need to have a movement.
7) We are not anti-police; we respect the police. But, those that are wrong need to be dealt with.
8) No other community in this country has to deal with what we [the black community] have to deal with. Other communities would be outraged at all the senseless death, outraged at all the disrespect, outraged at all the disregard, outraged at the killing and shooting.
9) Blackness means, no matter how low we are pushed down, we rise up. We never surrender our pursuit of excellence.
10) When did blackness mean calling yourself N-word and your woman, ‘h–?”
