Radio Name: “To Be Honest” on MJWJ Global Radio Network

How did each of you get started in talk radio?

Brandon aka BLaw:

I got my start working with MJWJ Talk Radio owner Wash Allen and vice president Judy Foston with the Wash Allen radio and TV shows. When I was told that they were going to create their own talk radio station, I pitched a show for young people to be able to step away from social media and use their mind to talk about their honest opinions and beliefs. I told them they should get someone young to do the show and they said “you should do it!” I couldn’t say no and before I knew it. I was all in.

Dr. Dawn ‘The Talkin’ Diva’:

I have been writing and reporting for Houston Style Magazine’s fan base for a few years now and had also been a part of the “Wash Allen Show” family. When I found out about the opportunity to host “To Be Honest Radio,” I jumped at the chance.

What separates your station from other talk radio stations?

Dr. Dawn ‘The Talkin’ Diva’:

“To Be Honest” presents in a unique way various topics, world events, hot subjects and interesting guests for the younger generation so that they can voice their honest opinions about the world we live in, in a no judgment zone. “To Be Honest” uses all social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Kik and other social media networks to engage as many people from around the world in discussions about our world.

Interns play a major role in your show. Why is it so important for your station to give back to the up-and-coming youth?

Brandon aka BLaw:

Because our show provides a platform for young people, it is good to have young interns with bright and fresh ideas to help give us perspective into their generation and stay current on what the younger generation is interested in. This internship provides students interested in radio with invaluable skills. One of our interns is from Puerto Rico and finishing up her internship and another has recently been hired to work in production with a news station.
