“RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Tyra Sanchez found herself in the headlines this week after reports revealed that the season two winner was arrested for assault while at a gig in Virginia Beach. However, Sanchez claims that she was actually the one who was assaulted.
According to TMZ, Sanchez, real name James Ross, was signing autographs at the Rainbow-Cactus Company a few weeks ago when an angry fan began heckling her. Sanchez says that she attempted to approach the man to pacify him, but a security guard for the venue grabbed her, slammed her to the ground and cuffed her. However, the guard eventually let her go.
Sanchez says she suffered bruises, a sprained shoulder, and a cut to her head.
When she went to file charges against the venue this past Monday, she was shocked to learn that there was a warrant for her arrest over the incident.
Sanchez willingly turned herself in and later posted bail.
Sanchez says she will continue with plans to take legal action against both the venue and the guard. The Rainbow-Cactus Company has yet to comment on the matter, though. – nicholas robinson
