Fans were understandably shocked when Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks announced that they’d ended their three-year relationship, and many wondered why the two, who seemed happy together, decided to call it quits on their romance. Although Derulo recently explained that pressure to get married caused them to split, Sparks recently spoke out and claimed that Derulo is lying.
Derulo gave his explanation for the break up during a recent interview on “The Breakfast Club,” telling the host that too many arguments and too much pressure to tie the knot caused their relationship to crumble.
“What happened, in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons,” Derulo said. “Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage. There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad, bad times, it’s time to call it quits. It becomes something that is unhealthy,” Derulo said.
“Yeah, and to be fair, it was not just from her either,” he said. “It was kind of from everybody. That’s not the sole reason, but it definitely played a part,” he added.
However, when Sparks recently spoke with TMZ, she had a different story to tell about their breakup.
“I really don’t have a comment on anything that’s been said because it’s just that, it’s just words,” said Sparks.
Sparks also appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” this week to discuss the breakup, and when asked about whether or not Derulo cheated on her, which he denies, Sparks decided not to confirm or deny the rumors.
“I actually don’t want to comment on that,” Sparks said.
However, she did confirm that she likely will return the BMW that Derulo gave her on her birthday.
“I thought about it. I haven’t really had time to think about it but I probably will,” she said.
Well it looks like Sparks either wants to move on quickly or handle her feelings about the breakup privately, which is rather smart considering how much people want to make a scandal out of their split. –nicholas robinson
