As former Appropriations Director for the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus, Attorney Elgie Sims Jr. helped to craft budgets devoted to improving the quality of life in communities by providing funds for education, capital improvements, health care initiatives and economic development activities.
Since winning the election to fill the House of Representative seat vacated by Constance ‘Connie’ Howard, Rep. Sims has held true to his belief that a quality education is crucial for the young people of Illinois to remain competitive and successful in the global economy. He has championed legislation focused on improving the quality of our schools, strengthening the middle class by creating good jobs, bringing fiscal discipline to Springfield, and passing common sense public safety initiatives to make our streets safer.
