Kari Steele, Commissioner of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Before being elected as Commissioner on November 6, 2012, Steele worked for 11 years as a chemist at L’Oreal USA, the Jardine Water Purification Plant and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. Her chemistry background and work experience provide her with unique insights about the maintenance and delivery of clean water for citizens in the Greater Midwest region.


While in office, her mission is to “serve the citizens of Cook Country by protecting and conserving our fresh water supply, educating on conservation efforts, and promoting transparency of government practices.
