Rapper and reality star Joe Budden has just released his newest EP, Some Love Lost. The Jersey native’s personal life has become as inescapable as his music, and Budden made headlines last month when it was reported that he was wanted by the NYPD for attacking his girlfriend.
On Some Love Lost, we get full-on personalized Joe Budden. Less of the ballerific or battle raps and more heart-on-his sleeve introspection; Some Love Lost is a 35-minute showcase for Budden’s skills. The project is the second in his Love Lost series following No Love Lost. But he doesn’t care if you like it. The rapper spoke to the Source about not being interesting in promoting himself to non-fans.
“I don’t feel like I need to convince people who are not interested in buying my music,” he explained. “I spent a good amount of ten years building my brand that speaks for itself and people kind of know what to expect. I’m putting out an EP and I worked hard. So I’m only going to give one reason you should buy it. It’s because the music is great. Some people out there are still fans of good music and not just musicians so I put my best foot forward and tried to put together a product that spoke to those people, the people that are fans of good hip-hop and good music and rap, in general. And that’s what you’ll get from me on Nov. 4 from me. Other than that, thank-you and I appreciate it.”
