  1. Love joins the ranks of fellow New Yorker Shirley Chisholm D-NY, who was the first African American woman elected to Congress (1968).
  2. Love, née Ludmya Bourdeau, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Dec. 6, 1975 to Haitian parents, Mary and Jean Maxine Bourdeau.
  3. Love is the former mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, following two terms on city council. Love became the first female Haitian-American elected official in Utah County, Utah.
  4. Love graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in fine arts and worked as a flight attendant for Continental Airlines.
  5. She is married to Jason Love and they have three children.
  6. Love’s political platform is limited government, increased citizen liberties and limited restraints on business.
