Phaedra Parks explains why she missed Apollo Nida’s sentencing

Sunday night’s season premiere of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” opened the eyes of many fans to what happened behind the scenes when Phaedra Parks skipped out on her incarcerated husband, Apollo Nida’s, sentencing. Since then, fans have been divided about whether or not Parks should have joined Nida in court for his sentencing, but now Parks has finally explained why she chose to avoid Nida’s big day in court.

Parks recently wrote a blog post addressing her absence from Nida’s sentencing and she defended her actions, saying that she chose to be a parent first.

“Words cannot express the turmoil this situation has caused our family, and I can’t even begin to articulate how hard it has been. When you face a situation like this, you can choose to either break down or stay strong; I chose to stay strong because I have two young children that need a parent to give them stability and keep the ship sailing,” she wrote.

Parks adds that she also chose not to go because she already knew that their marriage was over.

“I’ve been criticized for not being at Apollo’s hearing, but the truth is I had been there for him in so many ways for such a long time. By the time all of this went down, it was apparent the marriage was over and my focus needed to be exclusively on the well-being of our children. I don’t think there’s a parent out there who wouldn’t agree,” Parks wrote.

But that’s not all she talked about. Read the rest of what she said about Nida as well as her other cast mates after the cut. –nicholas robinson
