Being labeled a snitch is no laughing matter. It’s especially a problem if you’re rapper with a specific image to maintain.
Def Jam rapper Lil Durk finds himself in that unfortunate predicament as he faces allegations that he cooperated with authorities in order to secure a release on bond after being arrested on gun charges and originally denied bail.
Granted the accusations are being made by Lil Jay, a sworn rival of Durk, they are nonetheless pretty serious. Jay has posted a few videos on YouTube questioning Durk’s release and warning others to stay clear of the “Try Me” rapper.
“Man, n—-s is out here telling,” Jay proclaims. “How the f–k you out on three bonds? Come on man impossible. You working with them people. What’s your badge number? Attention everybody, watch out for Officer Durk.”
Durk was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after officers went to his home on an unrelated matter and discovered a Glock .45 and Springfield .45 near the rapper in plain sight. Durk’s attorney maintains there were others in the house and the guns could easily belong to them.
In an Instagram post Durk tells his fans that while he’s out for the moment, he still has an uphill battle ahead of him.
“Out on bond right now, I didn’t beat my s—,” Durk explains. “This is realistic, real s—, no TV man, so I thank the man upstairs. Hopefully we beat this s—. Keep me in y’all prayers.”
