Unarmed Black man shot at by police while holding his daughter

Another day and another unarmed Black man has been shot at by a police officer. According to “News 4 Jax” in Jacksonville, Florida, Brian Dennison was shot at by police officer J.C. Garcia while with his 6-year-old daughter.


While driving home from a basketball court, Dennison’s daughter began having an asthma attack. He said he was attempting to rush her back home when he was pulled over by a police officer.


After stopping his car, Dennison exited his vehicles with one hand up and the other hand holding his daughter. He wanted to explain to the police officer that it was an emergency and his daughter needed help. However, the police officer retrieved his hand gun and shot at Dennison.

Dennison nor his daughter was hit by the bullet, but he says his daughter is traumatized by the altercation.


The police officer later told investigators that he thought Dennison was holding a hand gun. However, it was discovered that Dennison was unarmed.

Dennison was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license. The shooting is being investigated.
