Michael Sam’s life and swift rise to fame has been one of the most interesting and talked about stories of the year. However, fans are still hungry to know more about Sam’s personal life as well as his thoughts on his derailed NFL career. And they got answers this weekend when Sam sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey on “Oprah Prime.”

During the candid interview, Sam addressed the biggest question that Oprah and the world have been asking since he was cut by the St. Louis Rams and waved by the Dallas Cowboys: “Do you think now that the reason why you are not with a team is because you weren’t good enough to play? Or because you are gay?”

“I don’t like to think that way,” Sam said. “But I do believe I’m a very talented football player and I’m going to continue on working hard and trying to get that opportunity to play in the league. I did everything I was supposed to do. I did everything right. I am proud of how I handled things.”

But that’s not all that Sam revealed in the interview. Read what else he had to say after the cut.
